實證基礎的閱讀教學指的是教學方案有成功的紀錄。亦即，教學方案用在某特定學生群体時，是可信，有效的，而且有助於閱讀成就的進步。
Research-based instruction and
scientifically based research為有同樣意思的詞彙，而其所包含的特性為：客觀、有效、可信、系統化、經審閱過。

for publication by a panel of independent reviewers
